Current Usage

The owners live in the main house, Casa Yavanna, but the rest of the property is used to provide a very good rental income from the two additional 3-bedroom guest houses, as well as running occasional workshops and courses. From Spring to September Yavanna is rented out for family holidays. The guest houses were booked for 33 weeks last year. We also ran a fully subscribed yoga retreat, a cycling week and a pottery/ceramics holiday.

Converted from an ancient barn, the large fully equipped Ceramics/Art studio, also converts into a workspace for retreats, seminars and workshops. This could easily be converted into further accommodation, perhaps a self-contained two bedroom cottage.

The Swimming Pool

A 12*6 m pool was installed in 2006. With beautiful views, it uses a modern Australian salt water filtration system rather than Chlorine.

The Garden

There is a large peaceful garden with secret corners, an ancient working well and quiet areas. Grapevines, lemon, olive and orange trees provide the perfect shade on a hot day. We have a large organic vegetable garden which provides much of our needs. We also have a large garage, two large storage rooms and car parking for 4-6 cars.

Why we chose Northern Portugal

We chose The Costa Verde Region (or “Minho” region of Northern Portugal because of its authenticity and old-fashionedness. We wanted to live amongst natural beauty with beaches and mountains nearby. We wanted a complete career change and were fed up with the rat race. We wanted to feel part of a community, with friendly neighbours and very low crime. We found what we wanted, and more:
