Details
Young Island Resort, the most northerly of the Grenadine chain of islands, is a privately owned, luxury tropical island located 200 yards from St. Vincent's southern shores. Legend has it that 150 years ago the Caribs -- the original inhabitants of the region -- traded the island for a stallion owned by the then British Administrator, Governor Young, hence the origin of the island's name.
Young Island was eventually developed into a luxury resort some 30 years ago by John Houser of the Hilton Group.
In 1974, ownership eventually moved to its current Vincentians owners:
The resort has been in the same ownership for thirty five years, and a new owner is now being sought.
The accommodation consists of 29 Guest Cottage with sea views, open-air garden showers, and private patios.
Young Island Resort has consistently achieved 50 per cent repeat business. One only need glance at the spectacular scenery to understand why guests return again and again
Though it may seem impossible to improve upon the beauty and luxury of Young Island there is still always room for expansion and development by a new owner.
On a 16 acre island resort there is room to develop with new ideas from a solid established resort base, with an excellent reputation
